The 12th CCFC Leadership Training was hosted by Chin Christian Fellowship of Saskatchewan (CCFS) for two consecutive days from May 17, 2019 to May 18, 2019 in Regina, Saskatchewan Province. We have three respected facilitators such as Dr. Lorne, Professor. Dr. Darren Gordon and Regina City Police officer Mr. Frank Kovacs. The leadership training event was attended by 36 church leaders from (Vancouver, British Columbia), (Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta), (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Kitchener, Ontario.
Dr. Lorne presented about the importance of family issues in Christian society and also about the reason why less and less people go to churches in Canada. It was very inspiring to hear why we should prioritize family first while also working as ministers, elders, deacons or volunteers at churches and in all other Christian ministries as Christian mission always started first from family.
It was also very knowledgeable and helpful to hear from Regina City police officer Mr. Frank Kovacs how police help community and police always play as role model for children in Canada. Mr. Kovacs said; "If we police even play as role model for your children who are our future generation, why shouldn't parents play role model for their children." You must start from home, he added. He also explained well about law enforcement system in Canada and that everyone in Canada should know about charter of rights and freedoms. It was also very good to know when to use 911 emergency call and how to use it. There are many ways to teach children and everyone should know that laws in Canada do not allow beating children. You might have come from a culture that allowed beating children but in Canada you should abide by the law in this country. For example, since Canada do not allow forced marriage or child marriage, you can not say that it is your culture and you can do because it is against the law in Canada.
Professor Dr. Darren Gordon taught us about religious issues. He explained well about living among different religious practices in Canada. He preached it is very important to know that Christian should surrender themselves to God every day as life is full of temptations and there are inevitable things in life that tempted us to fall in misdeeds. He also preached that being Christian will not free you from human problems but mistakes and problems in life are our opportunity to shine. As apostle Paul said that "I do what I don't want to do and I say what I don't want to say" as long as we live in this world, we might do that God dislikes us to do, we might say that God dislikes us to say. This is why we need to surrender to God every day.
